Jellyfin and Emby
RelayTV adds a responsive library for browsing Jellyfin or Emby from phones and desktops, then launches selected media on the attached TV.
Before connecting
Section titled “Before connecting”- Confirm RelayTV can play a direct URL.
- Confirm the RelayTV host can reach the media server.
- Create or select a credential with only the access needed by the intended user.
- Decide whether the media server URL is local, VPN-routed, or protected HTTPS.
Configure
Section titled “Configure”Open RelayTV settings and enter the media server URL and credential. Keep the URL reachable from the RelayTV server itself; a hostname that only resolves in the phone browser is insufficient.
Available workflows
Section titled “Available workflows”- Home rails including Continue Watching and Next Up
- movie and television browsing
- series, season, and episode pages
- bounded catalog search
- resume, play now, play next, and queue-last actions
- credential-conscious playback resolution and public state
Verify
Section titled “Verify”- Load the library home without an authentication error.
- Open a series or movie and confirm metadata appears.
- Start a known available item.
- Confirm playback reaches RelayTV without exposing upstream credentials in browser-visible status or copied URLs.
